Adeola Oluwaseyi (b. 1996) graduated from Yaba College of Technology in 2024. She is CraftVantage's current Artist in Residence.
She grew up in Alaba International Market, where her family sold refurbished electronics. Her work uses circuit boards, phone parts, and computer components combined with traditional fabric.
"I grew up in Alaba Market surrounded by broken phones and computers. I didn't see trash—I saw material."
'Digital Ancestors' uses e-waste to make images of Yoruba deities. Shango is made from phone batteries. Oya is made from cooling fans. It makes sense to me—these are the objects we give our attention to now.
